Why do I blog? Read my story…

I battled with being overweight since I was 8 years old. From the age of 12 I started dieting. Losing weight can be easy, keeping the weight off is another matter.  I did lots of YoYo dieting, I suffered physically and emotionally,  feeling like a looser for not being able to loose weight. I ate more, because I felt so bad. I was sad because I ate and I ate because I was sad.  It was a vicious circle, until one day I had enough!  At the time I was living in Copenhagen studying to be a nurse, a dream that I had since I was a small girl, but instead of being happy and excited I found myself fat and unhappy! I knew there had to be more to life than this.

I went online and after some searching I signed up for a weight loss challenge and the following day I began my journey. We were told to eat vegetables and other healthy food, although I barely knew what a vegetable was. I learned how to shop and prepare lots of vegetable and my taste buds had to relearn what was delicious and nutritious. I really enjoyed the weight loss challenge and in doing it,  my interest and passion was born! I began soaking in all the information I could about health and nutrition. After a couple of months on the weight loss challenge, and lots of studying, I started creating my own lifestyle program, which gave me a total loss of 88 lbs over a period of 1 1/2 years…..finally I was no longer carrying the equivalent of 2 suitcases with me every day!

When I started the weight loss challenge, my goal was simply to loose weight. But the dietary changes gave me a surprising side effect besides weight loss. All of the symptoms I had had while being obese, including depression, migraines, psoriasis, allergy, eczema, fatigue and more, completely disappeared!  This was the turning point for me to realize the truth to the saying:  ”Let your food be your medicine.”  So I decided to devote my life to studying nutrition and helping others like myself. Having been through such a drastic change myself, I know how empowering it is to get a new and better life!

That´s why a year after my weight loss I started studying Nutrition Therapy at The Center for Nutrition and Therapy in Copenhagen.  I decided to get my degree to be able to help other women who are struggling like I used to.

Today I am healthy, happy, I do not diet and I am full of life. I know that through my conscious choices I can conceive the life that I want, and you can too!  Come follow me on this life journey and I will help you get the life and vitality you deserve.
